How it all began…

Scoop House was inspired by a memory of visiting a small family-owned ice cream shop with my dad on Sundays. It was a place where you would sit in their adorable, somewhat uncomfortable, old-fashion chairs, and connect over a delicious bowl of ice cream making wonderful memories — the kind of store where your customer becomes your family and your store reflects you and your heart.

Having been a part of the local community, frequenting the restaurants, taking classes at the variety of schools, and shopping on Boonton Main Street for the past 12 years, we knew Boonton reflected a downtown marketplace of which we wanted to be a part. Boonton reflects a sense of community that fosters a spirit of helping one another.

When our four kids reached an age where they could help build our dream of owning a small town ice cream parlor, we went to work. Our family took every step together from choosing the location, renovating the space, negotiating equipment and rent, and the most important decision….picking the ice cream! We tasted ice cream from all over the United States and are a tough bunch to please since we make our own. The winner was, hands-down, Gifford’s Premium Ice Cream from Maine. Gifford’s core values reflect our love of family and life’s simple pleasures. It is a five generation, family-owned, small town success story using family recipes and local ingredients. Eventually, when all four of our children have grown and flown we hope to make our own ice cream but for now we will focus on combining Gifford’s World Class Ice Cream with local, all natural, fresh-baked goods, bringing our customers back to a time where life is a little slower, satisfying your sweet tooth amongst family and friends, creating memories!
